Colors and color blends improve the aesthetics by imparting a specific color to the cosmetic product and making the product appealing to eyes. Colors used in cosmetics can be classified as inorganic and organic. These days, organic colorants are synthetic and are available either as water soluble, oil soluble or insoluble agents. Inorganic colorants can be synthetic or naturally sourced metallic compounds. Inorganic colors offer a limited range of shades and thus have a limited range of applications. Colors are used in a variety of cosmetic products like lipsticks, nail paints, shampoos, soaps etc.
