Lisa Price, the Founder and Managing Partner of Carol's Daughter, loved to create cosmetics in her kitchen in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. What she didn't realize was that her passion for blending and mixing ingredients would create a sensation well beyond her Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. In the early 1990's, Price, a Brooklyn native, began experimenting with fragrance, essential oils and natural moisturizers to make gifts for her family and friends. It was then a hobby she enjoyed, as Price had a full-time job with the legendary sitcom, The Cosby Show.
As fate would have it, or as Price says, "a higher wisdom intervened," and a transformation took place, which presented a new world of opportunities to her. In 1992, The Cosby Show ended its run, and while Price continued working in television, she began selling her beauty products at flea markets and out of her living room. Soon she was packaging her handcrafted creations and word spread about the Almond Cookie Body & Bath Oil, Mimosa Hair Honey, Lemon and Rose Hand Cream, and Ecstasy Shea Souffle she created.
