In some larger companies the luxury of having multiple support groups that can support the formulator in the product development process may be the norm. In smaller companies some of these or even multiple tasks may be handled by a single person or sometimes contracted out to a third party. Either way, these tasks are all vital in the product development process. But the formulators' responsibility, depending on the size of the company, can possibly overlap into different areas and possible even the manufacturing environment.
