Differences in Ethnic Hair Types

SpecialChem / Nick Morante – Feb 22, 2008

Many hair care products are formulated to provide different functionality to the different hair types that exist. They can relax, straighten, and smooth out naturally occurring curly, kinky, or wavy hair without the use of potentially irritating chemicals regardless of ethnic background. Since there are different ways of treating different hair types, it is important that the hair is treated properly, to prevent possible severe damage that can occur requiring major repair or even cutting of the damaged area. The ends should be cut on a regular basis anyway to keep the hair healthy and growing. Other ingredients such as silk and wheat proteins and amino acids strengthen and condition all types of hair, allowing hair to stay healthy and reduce potential hair damage. Caucasians have a very wide range of hair properties. As a result there are a multitude of products on the market and choosing the correct product can be difficult. But it is the other ethnicities and ethnic mixtures that need to be addressed with different types of hair products.
