DL-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate

Tocopheryl Acetate. DL-alpha Tocopheryl Aceta acts as an anti-oxidant, anti-wrinkle agent and moisturizing agent. It is the more stable acetic acid ester of tocopherol. It is absorbed easily by the skin, where it is cleaved enzymatically into tocopherol. It prevents skin damage by free radicals (UV rays, environmental pollution, e.g. ozone), reduces peroxidation of skin lipids (less wrinkle), increases the moisture-retaining ability of the epidermis, improves skin’s surface relief and feel (softness, suppleness) and decelerates the photooxidative processes of decomposition in hair pigment (melanin) and hair protein (keratin). Used in skin care and hair care formulations.
