Polyurethane-34. Baycusan® C 1000 by Covestro acts as a film forming agent specifically designed for sun and skin care products. It is a colloidal system of a high molecular weight polyurethane polymer dispersed in water. An internal emulsifier incorporated into the polymer backbone ensures stability of the dispersion. Therefore, the use of external surfactants is not required. Its unique structure provides a balance of elasticity, hydrophobicity and washability. It delivers a high sun protection factor (SPF) and provides pleasant feel on skin. It imparts an outstanding water-resistance and ensures smooth application. Key properties include: SPF boosting, water resistance, enhanced stabilization, long-lasting, and actives ingredients efficacy boosting. With its ability to avoid UV filters migration and its self-stabilizing properties, Baycusan® C 1000 enables emulsions to be created with the lowest levels of allergenic agents like UV filters and emulsifiers while maintaining the highest levels of protection and water resistance. Formulations absorb quickly and leave a pleasant feeling on the skin. Baycusan® C 1000 is a biocide-free product exhibiting good compatibility with a broad range of cosmetic ingredients including common synthetic and natural thickeners like Carbopol® and Xanthan gum, polar solvents like ethanol and suitable for low VOC or zero VOC hair products like hair sprays, gels, mousses, styling creams, styling lotions, etc.
