The study enabled the quantification of Altheostem™’s senolytic activity, by proving its selective and dose-dependent apoptotic effect on senescent dermal fibroblasts (HDF) vs normal HDF through various approaches (e.g., proportion of β-galactosidase-positive cells, ATP levels, levels of phosphatidylserine exposure and activation of Caspase-3/7). Moreover, the study quantified the positive outcomes resulting from this senolytic activity on the gene expression levels of relevant genes involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling.
