Manuka Bioscience Introduces Natural Oil Known for Antimicrobial Properties & WellnessManuka Bioscience has introduced Mānuka Oil (INCI: Not Provided), known for its antimicrobial properties, it offers benefits in skin care and is a common natural remedy in New Zealand.

Increases Therapeutic Efficacy While Retaining the Skin-safe Properties

Mānuka Oil is sourced from the Mānuka tree, a plant that is known to regenerate first after a natural disaster, such as a flood or fire, per the company website. Further, in addition to skin care, the ingredient can be used in aromatherapy and natural wellness, offering multiple applications.

According to the Manuka Bioscience website, triketone compounds found in the oil are responsible for the oil’s antimicrobial activity. Mānuka that grows in the East Cape region of New Zealand has a unique chemical identity described as the high triketone chemotype where the triketone level in the oil is over 20%.

Per the website, the company is developing Mānuka Oil derivatives to increase therapeutic efficacy while retaining the skin-safe properties of Mānuka Oil.
