Gattefosse ERI 360 CertificationGattefossé has obtained the ERI 360° label for three of its major cosmetic ingredients, as part of its continuous progress and ambitious CSR approach.

This label, co-created in 2018 by cosmetics industry players including Gattefossé and developed by Innov’Alliance, enables the entire life cycle of a product to be assessed, from its origin through to its launch to market.

Received Silver & Bronze Labels

Gattefossé has audited three of its cosmetic ingredients with the ERI 360° label.

Gatuline® Link'n Lift has received silver label. An anti-aging active ingredient obtained by the innovative NaDES (Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents) technology and derived from the horse chestnut flower, this ingredient is rich in active molecules present exclusively in this flower. It targets vertical and horizontal wrinkles around the eyes.

Gatuline® Renew has received silver label. A natural extract of carefully selected and handpicked Japanese cedar buds, this active ingredient is rich in energetic phytochemicals that stimulate skin renewal. The skin is visibly more hydrated, softer, and smoother.

EnergiNius® has received bronze label. Obtained from the roots of the Indian Ginseng (Withania somnifera) plant, this ingredient is certified organic and obtained using NaDES technology. It protects skin cells from artificial visible light emitted by screens, an additional environmental stress induced by modern lifestyle.

Measure Sustainability of Ingredients

The ERI 360° label combines a set of tools and indicators to measure the sustainability and degree of eco-conception of the ingredient. The standard analyzes the entire value chain, from the cultivation and harvesting of the plant, though processing until the ingredient exits the factory.

Through this label, Gattefossé has acquired in-house the skills and tools to carry out a complete diagnostic of its ingredients, leading to improved conception of new products.

There are 3 levels of certification: bronze for a score between 75 and 85/100, silver for a score between 85 and 95/100 and gold for a score above 95/100. Since its creation, 30 ingredients have been labelled ERI 360°, of which only 2 have obtained the gold label, proving the high standards required for this certification.

Within Gattefossé, priority is given to the issue of sustainability of raw materials. Gattefossé strives to ensure that its raw materials come from reliable, identifiable and renewable sources, thanks to rigorous tracing of their origins.

From this point, the company identifies the most environmentally friendly and energy-efficient extraction or production method that will allow to obtain the required activity or functionality for the ingredient.

"We have been working for many months to obtain the ERI 360° label for these key actives. This label, based on an analysis grid of 100 indicators, is one of the strictest currently in use, and focuses on a full cradle-to-gate evaluation of ingredients, their composition and processing. The beauty industry has high expectations on sustainability and eco-responsibility, and we at Gattefossé share the commitment of our customers to provide ingredients that are constantly in progress in this area. We intend to pursue the ERI 360° certification for other products in the coming months,” explained Paula Lennon, group director Personal Care.
