Alland & Robert launched Demecare® at in-cosmetics Global which took place in Paris. Demecare® is its new range of natural gums for the formulation of clean, organic, and sustainable cosmetics. The Demecare® range features twelve products made with two natural gums, gum sterculia and gum acacia.
Applications in Creams & Make-up
Gum sterculia and gum acacia are widely known as natural, clean, healthy products. When integrated into facial creams, cleansing gels, or make-up, they guarantee stability and texture due to their viscosity and their rheological and texturizing qualities. They may also be used as emulsifiers in lotions or serums which require specific textures.
The Demecare® range features ISO16128 and COSMOS certifications. Demecare® and its functional uses include:
-
Creams, sunscreens, serums - texture, shine, a silky consistency.
-
Moisturizers, lotions - emulsifying and thickening properties.
-
Shower gels - film-forming, texturizing and smoothing qualities.
-
Powder foundations - texturizes improves homogeneity and increases adhesion to the skin.
-
Foundations - emulsifies, and maintains particles suspended in liquid foundation to avoid separation.
-
Mascaras, eyeliners - consistency, adhesion, lash thickness.
-
Liquid lipstick (water-based) - adhesion to the skin, the cohesion of ingredients, film-forming effect.
Acts as Texturing & Film-forming Agent
According to Lucie Birchler, a cosmetic expert in the R&D team of Alland & Robert, “the properties of natural gums are manifold: they can therefore be used to great advantage as emulsifiers, texturing agents, tightening agents, technological aids, film-forming agents, suspensoid agents, and sensory improvers.”
In its development, Alland & Robert worked in close cooperation with Loredana Dattilo, general director of Grif Cosmetics. She has integrated Alland & Robert gums into a number of tests to try out their properties.
“
Our trials have demonstrated the film-forming and adhesive qualities of gum acacia, which are difficult to obtain using other natural ingredients. Gum acacia compounds may fulfill a number of purposes, depending on the product. They can enrich the consistency and thickness of mascara, for example. When combined with other natural surfactants, they can help emulsify liquid products such as foundation. More generally speaking, the texture is “smoother” in the presence of gum acacia,” Loredana Dattilo, general director of Grif Cosmetics.
