Symrise has opened a new laboratory for cosmetic ingredients in Holzminden, Germany. The new facility will enable the development, optimization, and testing of new cosmetic formulations, specifically utilizing the portfolio of antimicrobial ingredients from the Micro Protection category.

Lab to Support Customer-specific Projects

The laboratory will support customer-specific projects as well as the development of new innovative materials for use in cosmetic applications.

The company has broadened its capabilities to conduct on-site workshops as a means of enhancing customer service.

With the new laboratory, Symrise intends to expand the Micro Protection category’s capabilities within the Cosmetic Ingredients division. The category consists of a portfolio of safe and effective preservatives and multifunctional ingredients as well as skin protection products such as deodorants, anti-dandruff and hygiene solutions.

“In recent years, the Cosmetic Ingredients division has grown rapidly thanks to exciting developments,” says Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, CEO of Symrise AG.

In a logical next step, we have now reinforced the division with a modern laboratory for the Micro Protection category. Strategically, we intend to further develop our division of cosmetic ingredients. We are the first company in our sector that started early investments in this business area, which sets us apart from the competition. We recognize opportunities early and take advantage of their potential.”

Spirit of Research

Symrise intends to use the new laboratory to thoroughly study the interaction of the ingredients in formulations and to identify new characteristics. The company aims to accelerate the market launch of new products. With the laboratory, it has also increased its capabilities to host customer workshops, allowing cosmetic manufacturers to learn about the optimal use of ingredients in cosmetic formulations through hands-on experience.

In the last several years, we have successfully expanded and developed our business in the area of cosmetic ingredients,” says Eder Ramos, Global President Cosmetic Ingredients. “We hope to build on our success with this modern facility that will directly support our customers in the development of cosmetics.”
