Croda to announce the launch of new ISO 16128 data. The company has been working hard to create an extensive list of products that according to ISO 16128 guidelines are natural, organic or mineral cosmetic ingredients.
Bio-based Ingredients
“
Given our company’s long-established, and industry-leading heritage in natural chemistry, more than 60 percent of our raw materials come from bio-based sources therefore we are pleased to offer a wide range of ingredients meeting ISO16128 standard,” said Chris Sayner, Vice President, Corporate Sustainability.
According to ISO 16128 standard, to be defined as natural, organic or mineral products must be greater than 50 percent. It is not a certification but a guide to calculate and categorize personal care ingredients to help select ingredients when formulating to meet the growing consumer demand for natural cosmetics.
Croda is creating a list of products that are in-line with the ISO 16128 guideline to meet the market demand. Croda, Crodarom and Sederma have an extensive list of products that meet the definitions outlined in the ISO 16128 standard.
There is a rise in popularity of the ISO 16128 guidelines as the demand of natural products is increasing. From 2012-2018, there was a 50 percent increase in personal care products claiming to be ‘all-natural’ (Mintel.com). Trends such as Clean Beauty, DIY Beauty and Vegan Beauty have all contributed to this significant rise in demand for natural ingredients and formulations.
