Glycol Distearate. HALLSTAR® EGDS by Hallstar is a biodegradable, bodying agent, opacifier and pearlizing agent. It is the product of the reaction of triple pressed-grade stearic acid with ethylene glycol. It is a mixture of mono- and di- esters, as reflected in its saponification value. It is effective due to its near insolubility in aqueous systems. It offers body, opacity and a soft velvety feel when utilized at a level of 1-2% in cream & lotion. Also, imparts additional body, bringing the product towards a stiff paste consistency when added at higher levels (up to 10%). HALLSTAR® EGDS is used in facial cleansers, foot care, hair colorants, hair conditioners, liquid hand soaps, shampoos, shower gels/body washes and styling aids.
