SILICA DIMETHYL SILYLATE

Silica Dimethyl Silylate appears as a loose white powder that is added to cosmetic and skin care products in order to increase their thickness. It is highly absorbent and upon mixing with oils, it creates a gel-like substance that can be easily applied without feeling sticky or oily. Silica Dimethyl Silylate is used as an anti-caking agent for cosmetics and improves the overall look and feel of the products. This makes Silica Dimethyl Silylate a very useful ingredient and is used in a wide range of products such as lip balms, blushes, nail paints, etc. The chemical formula of Silica Dimethyl Silylate is C₂H₆Cl₂Si.O₂Si.

What is SILICA DIMETHYL SILYLATE used for?

Silica Dimethyl Silylate is primarily a thickening agent that is used in a variety of cosmetic and skin care products across the industry.

Skin Care: It is used as a conditioning agent and replenishes the hydration levels without drying the skin out.
Decorative cosmetics: It acts as an anti-caking agent that makes the application of the products easier and feel better. It also bulks the formulation up and binds the ingredients together.

Origin

Silica Dimethyl Silylate is a silica-based derivative that is extremely lightweight. It is basically a special grade of silica that is treated with Dimethyl Silylate. Silica Dimethyl Silylate is not natural and is made synthetically in the labs.
