We all know that cosmetics can only affect the look of the skin but that doesn’t stop us from trying to enhance what’s outside by boosting what lies beneath. We take a look at how good cosmetic science can work with our biological systems to ensure that the right dose of active gets through our protective barrier in order to deliver benefits that are more than just skin deep. We give examples of three delivery strategies: Chemical, Dermal Occlusion and Penetration enhansers through the eyes of a theoretical active in order to see what method works best in the race to boost the skin from within and turn back the ageing clock.
