Switching Suppliers for Alternate-sourced Ingredients

SpecialChem / Dec 1, 2011

"Are you comfortable switching suppliers for alternate-sourced ingredients?" question should be on the mind of each and every formulator. It is on mine anyway. On numerous occasions I have received samples of the same ingredient from different suppliers and I see some differences between them. One of the most obvious differences was color. When an ingredient is supposed to be water-white, it definitely should not be yellow. Even if the ingredient is exactly the same chemically, its color may still have an impact on the final product. So there always is this question about alternate sourcing from different suppliers. But what does the SpecialChem Community think?
