Putting a cream in a stock jar is about as contemporary as an answering machine. Not only do the air and light degrade many of the active ingredients in the formula, but the packaging world is moving beyond this type of presentation.From airless pumps, roller balls, patches, syringes and self heating containers to adjustable dual dispensing, the personal care/beauty packaging game has changed.Gimmick, fad or innovation, creative packaging has come a long way. A vibrating, rotating, oscillating mascara would not have seen the light of day 5 years ago.Some of this shift is due to less expensive tooling and manufacturing outside the US, particularly China, who now provides the industry with sophisticated, creative packaging for every need.Product innovation today is as easily measured by the packaging as by the formula.Packaging is more than just the "container" that houses the product. In the beauty industry, particularly in the mass market (no sales person) and on line, the packaging becomes the spokes person for the product and the brand...
