New launches in natural/organic personal care

SpecialChem reviews recent new product launches from around the world within the natural/organic cosmetics, toiletries and personal care sectors. Most new natural/organic product launches take place in Europe, according to research company Mintel, although the US is also an important market. Examples given in this review come from Ireland, the US and Australia, which has a strong tradition in natural formulations based on locally grown ingredients.Despite the challenges in developing natural/organic standards acceptable to the cosmetics industry, there has been no shortage of new product launches this year. According to Mintel gnpd {global new products database}, globally there were 2965 new cosmetic launches claiming organic ingredients in the first 6 months of 2009. Most were in Europe {1833}, perhaps because this is the region where there has been most activity in developing new natural/organic standards. Although many product launches are extensions to existing brands, there are many, mainly niche, new natural/organic brands hoping to make their mark...
