Latest Innovations in Color Cosmetic Lip Formulations

SpecialChem / Nick Morante – Mar 7, 2012

Lipstick and lip gloss as we know them have been around since the early part of the 20th Century. The form may have changed, but the function has stayed very much the same. It has certainly evolved into what we have today. And the market for lipstick continues to expand with sales growth of almost 15% in 2011. Not much has changed since the very first lipstick was put on the market except for the colorants permitted in them and the ingredients used for longer wear and a more elegant feel and functionality. The biggest changes we've seen could be in the area of delivery systems and product packaging. One of Datamonitor's 2011 monthly 'roundups' of the latest launches from the personal care industry has seen lip make-up products coming to the forefront, with new launches including a dual phase tooth whitening product and a lipstick that comes in innovative "capless" packaging.
