Hair Care Fixatives and Rheology Modifiers

Because of the importance of the huge hair care market around the world, many companies that specialize in polymers have produced hair fixative resins, thickeners, rheology modifiers and other polymeric compounds that are performance enhancers in products such as shampoos, conditioners which can come in the form of gels, mousses, pomades, and sprays. In fact one of the first uses of polymers in the hair care market was in hair sprays. The main object of these ingredients is to give the hair more shine and body, help with repair, be resistant to humidity and provide hold all day but not be too stiff with no flaking or sticky texture. These polymers are formulated such that they will be suitable in almost any product application. They can come in the form of anionic, nonionic and cationic polymers.
