Givaudan’s Innovative Naturals Programme

Fragrance supply company Givaudan is looking for alternative sustainable sources of supply of key raw ingredients that are used widely by its perfumers in the manufacture of fragranced products. Its Innovative Naturals Programme has been running since 2007 which is designed to identify new and existing natural ingredients, such as sandalwood, tonka bean and benzoin. Working with NGOs, local organizations and farmers in countries such as Venezuela {for tonka}, Australia {for sandalwood} and Laos {for benzoin}, Givaudan has been able to support local communities, finance schools and improve livelihoods by guaranteeing the purchase of crops which are vital to the manufacture of fragrance. Givaudan’s goal is to safeguard the fragile supply chain for naturals to ensure their use in years to come.The growing demand for natural ingredients is at odds with the ability of producers to supply raw materials in a sustainable way.
