The Universal Selection Source:
Cosmetics Ingredients

SpecialChem / Nick Morante – Oct 23, 2007

In the United States, the cosmetics industry relies on The Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association (CTFA) for guidance and as a liaison between the different government agencies such as the FDA. In Europe there is a similar organization called COLIPA. COLIPA is The European Toiletry and Perfumery Association based in Brussels, Belgium. The thinking of consumers in Europe is very much the same as here in the United States. By the time each of us reaches work we will have used at least 7 or more cosmetic products: soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and cleanser, moisturizing cream or makeup. Therefore, COLIPA's goals are very similar to that of the CTFA. Whatever the product there is one common goal that COLIPA attempts to aim for and that is to promote the safety and well being of the person that uses it. COLIPA is the European Trade Association representing the interests of the cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery industry, and was set up in 1962 to act as the voice for the $90 billion cosmetics industry.
