Boots goes Vintage

Imogen Matthews – Jan 12, 2009

Boots has become a household name with stores all over the world and a number of hugely successful own-brand ranges. After its merger with Alliance UniChem in 2006, Boots increased its overseas presence further, becoming a truly international company with a strong global brand. In 2007, the company was taken into private ownership after it was acquired by private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co {KKR}.In 2009, Boots is celebrating its 160th anniversary as a retailer of medicines and healthcare products, which was set up by founder Jesse Boot, who believed in the business principle of buying in bulk and passing the benefit of reduced prices onto his customers. His wife, Florence, took a keen interest in the business, introducing new services and products outside the traditional chemists lines. This was the beginning of Boots move into toiletries and cosmetics as we know it.The 160th anniversary has prompted Boots to search its archives for product ideas, formulations and packaging designs for a new range of toiletries for face, hands and body based on beauty classics and traditional ingredients it became trusted for over a century ago...
