Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Trimethylsiloxysilicate. X-21-5249 by Shin-Etsu is a medium hardness silicone MQ resin film former. The resin is dissolved in cyclopentasiloxane (D5), which evaporates to leave behind a film that can improve a preparation's water repellence.

It provides resistance to water and sebum.
X-21-5249 is used in sunscreen and make-up products.
