Sodium PCA. Protachem™ SPCA by Protameen Chemicals acts as a humectant. It is a sodium salt of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid, enzymatically derived from glumatic acid and is available as 50% aq. solution. It is a natural moisturizing factor ingredients occurs naturally in human skin and is responsible for binding moisture to the cells. It can hold several times its weight in water. Extremely hygroscopic and imparts a pleasant moist feeling to skin and hair. Increases softness and elasticity. Protachem™ SPCA also exhibits good anti-static activity. It is stable at broad range of temperature and pH. Protachem™ SPCA is used in skin care, hair care, sun care and color cosmetics products.
