It acts as an antioxidant and is moisturizing in nature. It is a natural fat of the cocoa bean, extracted during the process of making chocolate and cocoa powder. It is one of the most stable fats known, containing natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. It is an excellent moisturizer that is solid at room temperature but readily melts on contact to the skin (due to its low melting point, just below body temperature) and is preservative free. It has emollient properties, leaves the skin smooth and soft, enhances spreadability of finished products, melts quickly on contact with the skin, penetrates easily into the epidermis, helps to stabilize emulsions and to adjust viscosity and after application the results are a rich silky elegant after feel on the skin. It is highly recommended for applications in lip balms and skin creams, hair conditioner, hair care and hair treatment products.
