Polyurethane-34. Baycusan® C 1001 by Covestro acts as a film forming agent specifically designed for hair care products. It is a colloidal system of a high molecular weight polyurethane polymer dispersed in water. Its unique structure provides a balance of elasticity, hydrophobicity and washability. It imparts a strong lasting hold with conditioning properties. Key properties include excellent high humidity curl retention, strong elastic memory, non-tacky feel, excellent sprayability and high gloss. It can be easily removed (no build-up on hair). Beside hair fixative properties, it contributes a conditioning/repairing effect on damaged hair and provides a lustrous & natural look. Baycusan® C 1001 is a biocide-free product exhibiting good compatibility with a broad range of cosmetic ingredients including common synthetic and natural thickeners like Carbopol® and Xanthan gum, polar solvents like ethanol. This grade is suitable for low VOC or zero VOC hair products like hair sprays, gels, mousses, styling creams and styling lotions.
