Baycusan® C 1001

Technical DataSheet | Supplied by Covestro

Polyurethane-34. Baycusan® C 1001 by Covestro acts as a film forming agent specifically designed for hair care products. It is a colloidal system of a high molecular weight polyurethane polymer dispersed in water. An internal emulsifier is incorporated into the polymer backbone to ensure stability of the dispersion. Therefore, the use of external surfactants is not required. Its unique structure provides a balance of elasticity, hydrophobicity and washability. It imparts a strong lasting hold with conditioning properties. Key properties include excellent high humidity curl retention, strong elastic memory, non-tacky feel, excellent sprayability, high gloss and it can be easily removed (no build-up on hair). Beside hair fixative properties, it contributes a conditioning/repairing effect on damaged hair, and provides a lustrous, natural look. Baycusan® C 1001 is a biocide-free product exhibiting good compatibility with a broad range of cosmetic ingredients including common synthetic and natural thickeners like Carbopol® and Xanthan gum, polar solvents like ethanol and suitable for low VOC or zero VOC hair products like hair sprays, gels, mousses, styling creams, styling lotions, etc.
