Symrise reveals new clinical data for Crinipan® PMC green, a novel, plant-based anti-dandruff active. The new data suggest that the molecule is as effective against dandruff as traditional ingredients, and also helps to promote healthy scalp microbiome.
Active Suitable for Scalp Care Products
Application of the ingredient by test subjects with dandruff resulted in a healthier ratio of two dominant species of scalp bacteria. This finding is based on ex vivo samples, that Symrise researchers took from the scalp of study participants, before and after a 30-day application of Crinipan® PMC green. The substance is suitable for use in many types of dandruff control and scalp care products.
Symrise has now discovered that application of Crinipan® PMC green is supporting a favorable shift in the bacterial balance promoting a healthier scalp. At the same time, the researchers observed the opposite effect on the scalps treated with a placebo product.
Ingredient Targets the Cause of Dandruff
The active also stands out with its innovative mode of action to target dandruff. Malassezia, known as one of the main causes for dandruff on scalp, activates the ingredient with its enzymes. Symrise has already demonstrated Crinipan® PMC green´s effectiveness in a clinical shampoo study, demonstrating comparable efficacy known from conventional actives like climbazole.
