Hair Care
Oat Cosmetics has introduced a new active ingredient, Glucaveen, the first from the company to be positioned solely as a haircare ingredient. Glucaveen (Avena Sativa (Oat) Bran Extract) is a powerful and unique oat active designed for healthier hair.
Strengthens, Moisturizes & Protects Hair
The new active ingredient is made up of beta-glucan, starch and amino acids and comes as a fully water-soluble powder, which in addition to strong efficacy (which shows Glucaveen to strengthen, moisturize and protect the hair) gives it good sustainability credentials - negating the need to ship water globally.
During a series of rinse-off ingredient trials, Glucaveen was proven to:
-
Form a film on the hair shaft, sealing in moisture and slowing down the loss of water from the hair
-
Visibly flatten hair cuticles
-
Repair and protect hair against breakage
-
Strengthen damaged hair
When asked about Glucaveen, Cara Dewis, head of technical at Oat Cosmetics replied: “
This is really strong data – Glucaveen is a powerful, natural active that protects, strengthens and moisturizes the hair.”
Addition in Oat Hair Range
Glucaveen is the flagship ingredient in the new Oat Hair range through which the company has tested the efficacy of Oat Cosmetics’ proven skin ingredients on the hair – with some positive results.
Key highlights from these studies show that:
-
Oat COM is a key ingredient for use on sensitive and irritated scalps
-
Virgin Poppy Seed Oil is a natural silicone replacement and provides hair shine improvement
-
Oat Lipid e and aurafirm s deliver hair manageability benefits
“
The launch of the Oat hair range moves our proven skincare ingredients into the world of haircare (with exceptional results). I am excited to see oat-derived ingredients becoming a mainstay in both skincare and haircare products going forwards,” commented James Daybell, head of marketing.
