Expanscience_number6Laboratoires Expanscience has launched “Number 6”, a cosmetic active ingredient derived from avocado upcycling, which reduces dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

Number 6 Restores Skin Vitality

Expanscience has used downgraded avocado byproducts (non-exportable, non-sellable) and transformed them into active molecules. Number 6 is therefore the 6th ingredient to be derived from avocado upcycling in the Expanscience catalog. This new ingredient completes a portfolio of 16 cosmetic active ingredients and 7 sensorial ingredients of natural origin used in the cosmetics industry in France and internationally.

Our new cosmetic active ingredient Number 6, is the culmination of our zero waste approach. Thanks to the expertise of researchers from our Innovation, Research and Development Department, we succeeded in reusing avocado by-products,” commented Armelle Le Peniec, Cosmetic Active Ingredients Director.

Restless sleep, stress, hectic lifestyle, aging are amongst the many factors that cause puffiness, dark circles and other imperfections to appear in the fragile eye contour area. The avocado polyphenols concentrate makes the eyes look brighter thanks to its anti-dark circle and anti-puffiness properties, by acting on microcirculation, pigmentation and swelling. It harmonizes the complexion, conferring it a natural glow. It is the remedy to sleepless nights, restoring full radiance and vitality to the skin.

Clinical Studies Show Reduction in Dark Spots

The clinical studies demonstrated:

  • 10 percent reduction in the number of dark spots under the eye and a 21 percent reduction in their surface area
  • 12.5 percent reduction in the volume of puffiness
  • A dark circle ITA° (Individual Typology Angle): +40 percent after 28 days’ application (1 shade lighter)

Number 6 is certified ERI 360° (Eco Responsible Ingredient). This label provides the first analysis grid capable of defining the level of ecoresponsibility of an ingredient. This recognition highlights company’s commitment and stringency in terms of ecoresponsibility for its active ingredients, in keeping with the CSR policy. It is also COSMOS-approved (COSMetic Organic Standard) by Ecocert Greenlife.

In keeping with our CSR policy and our B Corp certification, we thus contribute to further minimizing our impact on the planet and to protecting natural resources,” said Peniec.
