Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) expects to welcome more than 25,000 trade professionals from around the world to the definitive trade event to discover the latest ingredients and breakthrough technologies, learn from prominent industry experts, and to uncover new partnerships during the three-day event.

PCHi 2019 is set to be the largest edition ever — occupying a total exhibiting area of 40,000 sqm, a 25% increase over the previous edition. With China fast on the heels of the U.S. in becoming the world’s largest market for cosmetics, the annual PCHi event is of undeniable importance for businesses looking to enter the Chinese market.

Its sheer size aside, the Chinese personal care market is noteworthy for other reasons. For one, the Chinese culture presents opportunities for new product innovations, and several consumer-driven trends are unique to the market.

PCHi 2019 will prominently feature three major trends on the exhibition floor and in the education program. These hot topics that are currently making a big impact across the country include:

  • Urbanization and increasingly digitalized lifestyles have brought about burgeoning concerns over the effects of pollution and blue light on the human body, pushing consumers to demand solutions that help them cope with these damaging effects that the modern lifestyle and its related problems have on their hair, skin, and health in general. 
  • The demand for natural beauty products continues to grow as consumers become more concerned about the use of chemicals on their bodies and would rather reduce exposure or avoid them altogether. The same is observed in China but with a distinctive influence of TCM and indigenous botanicals on natural products.
  • Qing Yi Mei — loosely translated as ‘light medical beauty’ procedures — is a concept that broadly refers to non-surgical, medical methods that supplement traditional surgical procedures to achieve greater results. Increasingly popular in China and within Chinese communities elsewhere in the world, these Qing Yi Mei services sit somewhere between a plastic surgeon’s practice and a regular beauty salon in terms of level of invasiveness.

In addition to the conference, there will be a host of other free-to-attend sessions under the education program, including the PCHi x Exhibitor Talks and New Technology Sessions. These come as RSE responds to growing industry demand for more learning platforms at trade events, where attendees seek out the latest market trends and novel technology offerings to help shape their business activities for the year.
