Sodium stearoyl glutamate is a hypoallergenic, amino acid-based emulsifier that helps to blend the oil and water together in a cosmetic formulation. It helps to condition the skin and the hair. It also acts as a surfactant in higher amounts. It’s sodium part makes it an amino acid salt and it is non-irritating in nature. It is considered as natural, and environmentally friendly.

What is SODIUM STEAROYL GLUTAMATE used for?

Sodium stearoyl glutamate is used as a conditioner, emulsifier, and a cleansing agent.
  • Skin care: As a skin conditioner, it works at a pH range similar to that of the skin and thus provides a gentle yet effective moisturization. It also maintains a good skin condition when used as a cleanser
  • Hair care: It works as a mild, anionic, non-comedogenic cleansing agent which is biodegradable. It is compatible with a wide range of other ingredients, including electrolytes, UV-reflecting solids, and preservatives. It cleanses mildly without leaving a dry or coarse feel on the hair
