It is relatively common knowledge that skin is the largest organ of the body. It weighs between 6 and 9 lbs (roughly 2.5 - 4 kgs), with a surface area of about 2 square yards (roughly 1.7 square meters).Given what is expected of the skin, you would think we might treat it with a bit more respect.
