The present invention relates to a process for dyeing or lightening human keratin fibers, using a mixture of an oil-rich direct emulsion comprising at least one fatty alcohol comprising at least 20 carbon atoms in its most abundant hydrocarbon chain, at least one basifying agent and optionally a dye, and of an oxidizing composition; the mixture comprising at least 25% by weight of fatty substance.
