Lanosterol (Cryptosterol)

ISO Cholesterol. Acts as a thickener, emollient and film former. It is extracted from the sterol rich fraction of wool grease. Bonds very well with solvents being highly lipophilic when used as a thickener and is very stable, rarely crystallizing from the solvent when used. Topical lipid applications containing lanosterol impart a silky smooth feel and are ideal for use in lip gloss and lipsticks as well as deodorant sticks and insect repellant sticks.
