Butylated Hydroxytoluene. BHT by MakingCosmetics is an antioxidant and fat-stabilizer. It neutralizes free oxygen radicals and prevents auto-oxidation of organic materials and prevents rancidity of fats & oils. It is produced by the reaction of p-cresol (4-methylphenol) with isobutylene (2-methylpropene) catalyzed by sulfuric acid. It extends shelf-life & stabilizes colorants of cosmetics. BHT is used for stabilizing creams, lotions, shampoos, makeup and sunscreen products. It is vegan and GMO-free. The shelf life is 36 months from production date.
