Acrylic acid cross-linked with a hydroxymethyl propanediol propenyl ether. Vida-Care CG by KCC Basildon (Momentive) acts as a thickening agent and emulsion stabilizer. It is a high molecular weight acrylic acid polymer. It is not soluble but disperses and swells in water and polar solvents. Once neutralized with a suitable base, the resulting salt produces clear and thick gels as a result of electrostatic repulsion. 80% neutralization is required to obtain optimum clarity & viscosity in aqueous systems. The gels exhibit a pseudoplastic (shear thinning) rheology profile which is required for good spreadability. It has a long history of safe use in cosmetics and pharma-topical applications. It finds use in formulating anhydrous gels, aqueous and hydro-alcoholic styling gels, hand sanitizing gels, skin & sun-care gels, creams, lotions, sprays and color cosmetics. Complies with Cosmetics Regulation [EC] No 1223/2009.
