Citric acid is a naturally occurring fruit acid, produced commercially by microbial fermentation of a carbohydrate substrate. Adjusts pH, acts as metallic ion chelator and enhances action of methyl parabens. Used in shampoos, astringent lotions, bubble baths, creams and lotions, facial cleaners, feminine hygiene products, permanent wave neutraliser, propellants for aerosol-type dispensers, toothpastes and mouth rinses.
