Eucalyptus citriodora oil. Citriodiol® by Citrefine International acts as a biocide and insect repellent. It is produced from steam distilled eucalyptus citriodora oil (also known as corymbia citriodora), using a process that mimics and accelerates the aging process which naturally occurs in the leaf, by converting the citronellal content into p-menthane-3,8-diol (PMD). It is renewable, non-mutagenic, readily biodegradable and derived from sustainable sources. It is as effective as DEET against Aedes mosquitoes. It has no phototoxic potential or plasticizing effect and shows very low transdermal absorption. It is suitable for pregnant women and small children. Citriodiol® is used to formulate insect repellent products. Meets BPD 98/8/EC, BPR, US EPA, APVMA, PMRA, KEMI and Ctgb.
