(Alfa) Butylene Glycol

Butylene Glycol by Alfa Chemistry is a preservative-free, non-GMO humectant, solvent, antimicrobial agent and emollient. It is prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of aldol in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst. It prevents the assimilation of water from atmospheres of high humidity into film-forming preparations and preventing crystallization of insoluble components in cosmetic vehicles. It can stabilize volatile compounds like fragrances and flavors fixing them in cosmetic formulations and to retard the loss of aroma.

It is an ideal alternative of solvent for glycerin or propylene glycol in water-based systems.
It offers emolliency and moisturization.
Butylene Glycol is mainly used in wide range of leave-on, rinse-off formulations, serums, creams & lotions, hair care products, and color cosmetics.
