Beraca Introduces BioFunctional Extracts & Brazilian Colored Clays for Cosmetics

Present for the ninth consecutive time at in-cosmetics, to be held April 17 - 19 in Barcelona, Spain, Beraca introduces new BioFunctional Extracts sourced from four Amazonian fruits: annatto, acerola, guaraná and açaí. The new ingredients mark the launch of Beraca's powdered extracts. Besides having a higher concentration of active ingredients, they have shown improved stability for use in cosmetic formulations. Free from water interference, the ingredients remain active for a longer period of time and less susceptible to contamination.

With a standardized concentration of active ingredients such as bixin, ascorbic acid, caffeine, and anthocyanin, among others, the extracts are a natural alternative to synthetic raw materials used for manufacturing different cosmetic products.

BioFunctional Annatto Powder Extract
Native to tropical America, specifically the Amazon region, annatto (Bixa orellana) has brick-red seeds inside its prickly heart-shaped pods, which are used as a natural dye.
Standardized active ingredient: Bixin (2.500mg/100g)
Properties: Natural colorant, antioxidant and emollient
Indications: Color cosmetics
Recommended concentration: 0.3% to 1%

BioFunctional Acerola Powder Extract
Acerola (Malpighia glabra) is a red-orange colored citrus cherry. It contains vitamins A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), calcium, phosphorus, iron and particularly vitamin C, whose concentration is up to eight times higher than orange and lemon.
Standardized active ingredient: Ascorbic acid or vitamin C (1700mg/100g)
Properties: The extract contains anthocyanins and vitamins. It has an antioxidant action and protects skin against free radicals.
Indications: Anti-aging facial creams and masks, body creams and lotions, hair care products.
Recommended concentration: 1% to 3%

BioFunctional Guaraná Powder Extract
Guaraná (Paullinia cupana) is a vine that grows in the Amazon rainforest. Its fruit has a high concentration of caffeine, a substance known for its stimulant, tonic and invigorating properties.
Standardized active ingredient: Caffeine (10g/110g)
Properties: The extract is rich in caffeine, a member of the methylxanthine family, which is frequently used in anti-cellulite products.
Indications: Anti-aging facial creams and masks, body creams and lotions, hair care products.
Recommended concentration: 1% to 5%

BioFunctional Açaí Powder Extract
A high-energy, violet-colored berry of unique flavor, açaí (Euterpe oleracea) contains Omega 6 and 9, anthocyanins, vitamins B, C and E, amino acids, essential fatty acids, fiber, protein and minerals. It also has a very high oxygen radical absorption capacity.
Standardized active ingredient: Anthocyanin (150mg/100g)
Properties: Rich in polyphenols, its antioxidant action protects skin against free radicals responsible for premature skin aging.
Indications: Skin care and hair care products
Recommended concentration: 2% to 5%
