Biosurfactants for Personal Care Market
Biosurfactants produced via fermentation offer synergies in several strategic end use markets including agriculture, oilfield, personal care and household, industrial and institutional. NatSurFact developed a novel fermentation process for rhamnolipids and has achieved high yields at both the bench and pilot scale.
“
Rhamnolipids, a class of bio-surfactants, are attractive due to their favorable biodegradability, low toxicity and in some cases unique antimicrobial properties," said F. Quinn Stepan, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stepan Company.
Stepan is actively developing high-performing, advantageous products as a key pillar of its sustainability commitments. NatSurFact's rhamnolipid technology provides an important new option as customers across markets seek to meet new sustainability targets for their products.
“
We look forward to building on NatSurFact's work to commercialize these unique surfactants in the coming years,” added Stepan.
