PCHi Concludes with Over 30K Attendees and Affirms Its Global Reach & InfluenceThe Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi), China’s choice sourcing platform for the global personal care industry, has concluded its highly anticipated 2024 edition. Surpassing expectations, this installment solidified PCHi’s reputation as one of the multi-dimensional powerhouse events for personal care professionals.

PCHi 2024 recorded impressive numbers which underscored its significance in the personal care landscape. Spanning an expansive 56,000 square meters and boasting the participation of 785 exhibitors representing more than 27 countries and regions, the event drew over 30,000 attendees including international visitors from over 70 countries and regions, affirming PCHi's global reach and influence.

Illuminating Industry Trends and Advancements

Exhibitors hailed PCHi 2024 as a key industry platform for product launches and industry engagement. Ingredient suppliers like Givaudan, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, and Provital took the spotlight on the show’s opening day with the worldwide debut of their new products, reinforcing the event as the preferred avenue for global product launches.

Other groundbreaking innovations and technologies were showcased across the event’s feature areas like the New Products Showcase, Beauté Gourmet, and Sustainability Zone. The New Technology Sessions also featured exhibitors with their latest offerings, further highlighting the event's dynamic and forward-thinking nature.

An annual highlight at PCHi, the PCHi Fountain Awards was first introduced in 2017 to encourage technological innovations within the industry. This year, the organizers received a total of 221 product submissions and 20 engineer submissions, marking a significant 40% increase in innovative product applications compared to the previous year. This increase highlights global cosmetic ingredient suppliers’ keen interest in the Chinese market, indicating the growth potential for China's personal care and cosmetics sector.

The PCHi Annual Industry Conference 2024 proved once again to be one of the show’s perennial favorites, where more than 200 speakers attracted close to 6,000 delegates in attendance. The impressive line-up of educational conference sessions offered invaluable insights and showcased the latest industry innovations, enriching attendees with fresh and vital perspectives on hot topics like cosmetic formulations, rules and regulations, market trends, and medical aesthetics.

Key Insights Emerged from Sessions

Three key insights that emerged from these sessions:

  • As consumers become increasingly discerning and cosmetics regulations demand solid scientific backing for efficacy claims, companies are compelled to elevate the scientific rigor and quality of popular ingredients.
  • A growing consumer preference for natural ingredients and plant-derived raw materials reflects the market's desire for safe, natural, and mild solutions that meet requirements for anti-allergy options and are well-suited for people with sensitivities.
  • The burgeoning demand in China for sustainability, driven by government decarbonization efforts, has led to remarkable growth in environmentally friendly practices within the personal care and cosmetics industry.

Commenting on his company's experience at the event, Dr. Yanfeng ZHANG, chairman's scientific assistant, head of Innovation R&D Center, and senior scientist at Siyomicro said, "PCHi is a significant event in the cosmetics industry that has been instrumental for the introduction of our company and our synthetic biological technology to a global audience. But more importantly, we've successfully forged valuable customer connections during our time at the trade show. Moving forward, we aim to leverage PCHi as a platform to pursue new avenues for business growth through more strategic partnerships and collaborations."

Long-time exhibitor and stalwart supporter of PCHi, Ashland, echoes that positive sentiment. “PCHi stands out as a pivotal platform for the personal care industry in Asia, particularly in China, solidifying its position as our preferred industry event for product launches,” shared Lynn NING, Personal Care marketing director, Asia Pacific, at Ashland. “This year's exhibition echoed the vibrancy of previous editions, drawing a diverse influx of visitors from across the globe. PCHi is a comprehensive multi-dimension platform, catering to the varied needs of brand owners, purchasing managers, technical experts, regulatory professionals, and stakeholders from every point of the beauty industry to jointly facilitate the exploration and embrace of emerging beauty trends.”

Attendees echoed similar sentiments, expressing satisfaction with their experience at PCHi 2024. Ms. Tatiana SAMSONOVA, procurement manager at INTERDISP shared, “The New Products Zone helped with my shortlisting of exhibitors to visit and was my first stop before I even entered the halls. As this is my first time at PCHi, the company descriptions in English in the show catalog were good summaries for me to understand the breadth of what’s available at this event. I definitely plan to return next year.”

Plan Ahead for PCHi 2025

The next edition of PCHi will be held from 19-21 February 2025 in Guangzhou, at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.
