in-cosmetics Global 2022 Focused on Sustainable & Circular Beauty in-cosmetics Global, the world’s leading cosmetics and personal care event, returns to Paris from 5-7 April 2022 to chart the latest developments and achievements in sustainable beauty. A packed educational program for both in-person and virtual attendees will provide a rounded perspective on the latest advancements in sustainable raw materials and how the industry is working towards more radically sustainable business structures.

Running over three days, the in-cosmetics Global Sustainability Corner will bring together leading speakers from DSM, Lubrizol Life Science, Givaudan Active Beauty, Clariant, and Cargill BioIndustrial. In addition to a focus on sustainability, a program of Technical Seminars will offer exhibitors a chance to showcase their latest innovations and inspire attendees looking for new ingredients for future product formulations.

Both programs will be available during the in-cosmetics Global Virtual follow-up event from 11-22 April where attendees can watch sessions on-demand and continue their quest to learn about the industry’s latest advancements.

Circular Beauty Approach & Its Benefits

The circular beauty challenge is fast being embraced by beauty and cosmetic brands around the world, as production methods and ingredients life cycles are put under the spotlight as the industry looks to reduce its impact on the natural environment around us. With the EU’s Green Deal pushing Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, the cosmetics and personal care industry, pushed by consumer demand and government regulations, is taking steps to embrace this new green direction.

Helping attendees at in-cosmetics Global, speakers from Lubrizol Life Science, Givaudan Active Beauty, and ROELMI HPC will all address the topic of circularity, helping brand owners and R&D professionals understand what it means in real-life terms.

Mathilde Omnes, global sustainability manager, Lubrizol Life Science, will explain why ingredients and solutions must be designed, sourced, produced, and used responsibly to achieve true circularity. Moreover, R&D manager Bénédicte Sennelier-Portet, Green Fractionation - Active Beauty, Givaudan Active Beauty, will inspire and influence visitors with topical discussion on the brand’s Circular Beauty approach. Focusing on botanicals and biotech, three pillars including upcycling, waste-free design, and full valorization of plants form the basis of this land positive approach to satisfy the naturality and eco-consciousness sought after by consumers.

Continuing the discussion on circularity, Alessandra Adduci, product manager at ROELMI HPC, will be presenting four new innovative products including its Olifeel® high-technology ingredients derived from non-edible olive fractions, Cytofruit® Waters BIO99 life-enriched waters deriving from inner plant phytonutrients, Celus-BI® Feel biodegradable alternative to microplastics, BeauSens® lightweight emollient ester, oil-in-water emulsifiers, and mild surfactants.

Sustainability & Bottom-line Benefits

Outlining the steps brands need to take to embrace sustainability, a series of speakers will provide a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities facing brands on their path to a green future. Emily Thomas, corporate sustainability manager, CP Kelco will help brand owners understand how they can meet sustainability goals without compromising the consumer experience. The session will also demonstrate how incorporating a holistic approach to sustainability has bottom-line benefits.

With this in mind, Inès Duvillier, product manager from Laboratoires Expanscience will reflect on how the cosmetics industry today is offering more naturality and simplicity while retaining efficiency. Furthermore, why the sustainability and transparency of cosmetic formulas is a new must on the market. The topic will also take the focus of a session delivered by Ophélie Bourgon, marketing manager of Roquette Beauté. Here, Ophélie will demonstrate how the need for a more sustainable approach comes with the necessity for more clarity, and using raw materials such as corn, wheat, potatoes and peas are the best examples of sustainability for Roquette Beauté.

Latest Ingredient Innovations & Product Formulations

Elsewhere on the show floor, more than 80 live Technical Seminars will be led by industry professionals from raw material suppliers. With the chance to get a first-hand look at the latest personal care ingredients, attendees will gain in-depth insights into the benefits of each ingredient and the scientific evidence that substantiates its individual claims.

The Technical Seminars will feature a wide range of topics from addressing hyperpigmentation, clean beauty solutions, and the impact of natural actives on contemporary stress, to how zoopharmacognosy is helping R&D professionals discover new molecules of therapeutic value. With such a diverse line-up, the program of Technical Seminars at in-cosmetics Global will leave a long-lasting impression on attendees, inspiring the next generation of new product formulations.

Among the topics confirmed, sustainability returns to top the agenda once again with 11 sessions dedicated to new ingredients designed to meet consumer and brand expectations. With sessions delivered by Lubrizol Life Science, Seppic, Evonik Operations GmbH, and Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, attendees can discover the latest ingredients designed for eco-conscious consumers. For example, Cristina Carreño, Ph.D., global new business development director - Active Ingredients, Lubrizol Life Science, will introduce the sustainable biotechnological extract that has been developed to counteract the negative effects of stress on telocytes, a recently discovered cell type important for stem cell regulation.

Meanwhile, Mauro Riccaboni, sales & hydrocolloids product manager for personal care, Lamberti SpA, will speak about its patented sustainable water-smart process called Esaflor® ZERO-X Technology, designed to obtain a cationic guar for personal care use.

Growing Consumer Trends for Simplified Skin Care

Representatives from The Garden of Natural Solution, LANXESS Distribution GmbH, Active Concepts, Clariant, and bitop AG will all deliver insights on the latest multifunctional ingredients responding to growing consumer trends for simplified skincare. For example, Matthias Kunze, technical marketing manager, LANXESS Distribution GmbH will introduce the Swiss-army knife multifunctional for cosmetic formulations, a synergistic green surfactant that creates a creamy and long-lasting foam. It has a good broad-range effect against microbes even in alkaline environments and is a powerful active for anti-dandruff-, anti-acne- and deodorant formulations.

Roziani Zulkifli, exhibition director of in-cosmetics Global, commented, “This year’s education program is second to none - with the Sustainability Corner and a multitude of Technical Seminars on offer, we are extremely excited to showcase and deliver a program packed full of personalized expertise which covers every corner of the beauty and personal care industry. There is certainly something on offer for everyone at the show this year in Paris!"

“What’s more, attendees can catch up on missed sessions online during our Virtual event and gain access to an exclusive program of Marketing Trends sessions. This hybrid approach to networking and education will help extend the excitement experienced on-site over the three days. We look forward to welcoming our exhibitors, attendees and speakers both in-person and online this coming April.”
