in-cosmetics Global Announces Full-show Features & Details of All-new Ahead of the leading personal care ingredients show next month, in-cosmetics Global, 28-30 March 2023, has announced full-show features, including more confirmed exhibitors and ingredient suppliers focusing on the main industry trends, details of the all-new Sustainability Zone, and how attendees will be able to discover companies and solutions in returning areas of the show, such as the Fragrance Zone, Lab Zone, Sensory Bar and more.

Over the three days, the show's education program will bring together leading industry experts to explore the more pertinent trends impacting cosmetics and personal care brands, more than 850 leading personal care ingredient suppliers are confirmed to showcase over 2,800 ingredients, helping R&D professionals discover the latest, newly launched ingredients for new product development. Among them, 80% of the 20 global cosmetics ingredient suppliers will be in attendance.

This includes BASF, Croda, Ashland, Solvay, Clariant, Momentive, Evonik, Lubrizol, Nouryon , Arxada (formerly Lonza Specialty Ingredients), Stepan Europe, Wacker, Shin-Etsu , Roquette, DSM, and Symrise. Meanwhile, more than 80 new exhibitors will exhibit for the first time, including BOKILBIO, Innovactive Ingredients, Farmforce, Lucideon, Roka Furadada, Sequential Bio, and Aromaaz International.

Clean Beauty and the Growth of Biotech

Among the categories set to be represented on the show floor, clean beauty is leading the fore with more than 1,300 ingredients on display that respond to the need for products that are organic, green, cruelty-free, or natural. Biotech ingredients, where plant extracts are manufactured using various techniques such as cold pressing, compression, steam distillation, or solvent extraction, are also rising in popularity.

Among the exhibitions demonstrating how biotech ingredients can be used in new formulations, Active Concepts S.r.l will display its ACB Rice Water SF. Having captured the attention of consumers as the next must-have hair care active, Active Concepts’ hair care treatment is designed to accelerate growth and rejuvenate damaged hair. Fermented water allows vitamins and amino acids to be more bio-available and easily recognized by the strands, making ACB Rice Water SF a superior choice for capitalizing on the benefits of rice water in hair care formulations. It is vegan and ISO 16128 certified, proven to increase hair hydration and offers humidity protection using ayurvedic technology.

Fellow exhibitor, Givaudan Active Beauty, will demonstrate the benefits of Marine Biotechnology with its B-Lightyl™ universal dark spot eraser, created from Himanthalia elongate, a brown macro-alga naturally sourced in Brittany, France. A natural ingredient that addresses hyperpigmentation, it reduces the number of visible spots, reactivates the expression of SDF-1, and protects against solar and senile lentigo.

The company will also profile its Chronoglow™ active ingredient, crafted by green fractionation and empowered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Created from Haberlea rhodopensis, also known as ‘the resurrection plant’, Chronoglow™ is a natural cure for the skin, helping to reverse the effects of ageing and improve its radiance. According to clinical tests, it improves, after 2 weeks, radiance (+6.1%) and luminosity (+3.8%), and after 4 weeks, elasticity (+8.9%).

Attendees can also discover ingredients responding to the latest trends from waterless formulations, CBD, microbiome, neurocosmetics, and more. Alongside clean beauty, one of the biggest trends to emerge at in-cosmetics Global is a focus on personalization – which is now a standard that consumers expect from their favorite personal care and cosmetic brands. Consumers are increasingly expecting brands to anticipate what they might want or need next.

With more than 500 ingredients on the show floor making this possible, attendees can join the likes of ROELMI HPC, which will showcase its ÆCTive® for microbiota care. The powerful postbiotic has a dermobiotic target that helps to maintain osmotic balance and ensures the balance of skin microbiota. Lipotrue will also promote its award-winning ÆONOME™, a bacterial ferment obtained from an ancient underwater cave located on Mallorca’s Island. Æonome™ unveils itself as an "agebiotic" that induces the release of antioxidants by a balanced microbiota protecting skin from visible signs of aging.

Zoning in on Sustainability

Attendees can not only find the latest ingredients ideal for new natural, organic, free-from, or waterless formulations: New for 2023, in-cosmetics Global will help attendees understand what it means to be truly sustainable. Since 2017, the Sustainability Corner at the event has grown in popularity, with an increasing number of attendees looking for suitable solutions. But it’s not just eco-friendly ingredients and ethical sourcing that make a company or product sustainable.

The new Sustainability Zone has been introduced to expand the show’s sustainability offering, providing more information and opportunities for attendees to discover how to become more sustainable. The Zone will consist of the existing Sustainability Corner display and theatre (sponsored by AAK), but for the first time will be joined by a new sustainability pavilion (sponsored by Farmforce). The new sustainability area at the show is supported by The Green Chemist Consultancy and presented in partnership with Ecovia Intelligence.

Dedicated Zones - Specialist Ingredients in the Limelight

Elsewhere on the show floor, dedicated zones will focus on specialist topics – bringing together suppliers to help attendees discover the companies and solutions available to meet their unique challenges.

Furthermore, the ‘Boost your Test’ feature, organized by Skinobs, will help match the most appropriate testing methods to the evaluation specifications.

The Sensory Bar will invite attendees to identify new and invigorating sensations for their next cosmetic creation, with a Brazilian company, AQIA to showcase its latest innovations. The Make-Up Bar will profile innovative pigments and technologies to deliver captivating shades and hues.

Also returning to the show to connect attendees with the latest products and brands – both established and new – will be the event’s dedicated R&D Tours. Following their resounding success at in-cosmetics Global in Paris in 2022, the tours will be open exclusively to R&D professionals from cosmetic/contract manufacturers. The themes for this year’s tours include Microbiome - Advancements in skincare and anti-aging (sponsored by Symrise), ‎Skinification (sponsored by Codif)‎ , and Biotech (sponsored by Mibelle Biotechnology)‎.

Also available in a digital and printed format for on-site visitors, this year’s Indie Trail will help attendees navigate the event with greater efficiency, creating new business opportunities. It creates a direct line for indie brands to identify exhibitors who supply ingredients and support a smaller production. Those confirmed to participate in the trial include Activen SA, Laboratoires Prod'Hyg, Mibelle AG Biochemistry, MICROCAPS AG, ROELMI HPC srl, Rossow, Swedish Algae Factory AB, Biolie, Upcycled Beauty Ltd, nako naturals Gmb, and Apoena Biotech.

While the show floor will offer boundless opportunities to source the latest ingredients, the education program at this year’s in-cosmetics Global will bring together leading industry experts to explore the more pertinent trends impacting cosmetics and personal care brands. For example, on day one, Ashland will invite participants to prepare a pigment dispersion with vegan, nature-derived, biodegradable antaron™ soja glyceride, while Azelis will teach attendees how to formulate cold process crème gels using oleosomes.

For attendees looking for more interactive demonstrations of formulations live at the show, Mintel will deliver a program of three live demonstrations exploring the ‘Future of Beauty: Key Trends and Products Shaping the Industry’. Taking place in the Innovation Zone, experts will come together to address evolving consumer lifestyles and priorities, the importance of sustainability and ethics, the changing role of identity, and the influence of technology on the future of beauty.

Celebrating the Very Best of the Industry

Returning for a live and in-person ceremony in 2023, in-cosmetics Global will celebrate the newest ingredient innovations with a free-to-attend award ceremony and after-party. Kicking off after the show closes on the opening day of the show, attendees and exhibitors are invited to celebrate this year’s Innovation Zone Awards winners in style with an evening of live music, refreshments, and relaxed networking. During the ceremony, winners of six categories will be announced including Best Active Ingredient, Best Functional Ingredient, Green Ingredient, and Rising Star, along with two special awards judged at the event by a panel of industry experts – the Sensory Bar Award and Make-up Bar Award.
