in-cosmetics Asia has announced the return of Spotlight On area to the show this November for its 12th edition. The Spotlight On area for 2019 will provide formulators and marketers with a unique way to learn about the latest trends and ingredients affecting three pertinent areas, clean beauty, sun care and transforming formulations.

Clean Beauty Wave in Asia-Pacific Region

There has been a rapid increase in demand of natural ingredients in the global natural and organic cosmetics market.

  • By 2027, the demand of natural ingredients is expected to reach $54,432 million.
  • According to Ecovia Intelligence, the sales in Asia increased by 21% compared to single digits in Europe and North America in 2017.
  • Consumers in the Asia-Pacific region in the near future will seek cosmetics that are free from synthetic chemicals.

To resonate better with modern consumers, manufacturers are highlighting the products as vegan, organic, free-from, 100% natural and sustainable. Several global suppliers like Codif, Givaudan, Lipotrue, Naolys, and Pharmasynthese will showcase their clean beauty ingredients.

Technical Seminars on Clean Beauty

  • Hen de Jager, Technical Manager at Jan Dekker (part of IMCD), will give a presentation on ‘Clean Beauty – nature versus synthetics’.
  • Tomoko Ohtsu, Manager at Vitamin C60 BioResearch Corporation, will highlight the new approach to natural cosmetics.

Attendees at in-cosmetics Asia can stay ahead of the trend and source the very latest ingredients for new product development in clean beauty.

Sun Care, Part of Daily Beauty Regime

The negative impacts of UV rays including detrimental health effects and accelerated aging are propelling the sun care market forward. With increasing image consciousness, sun protection is no longer seen as an occasion-based product but as an essential part of the daily beauty regime.

  • According to Mintel, the APAC sun care market estimated to have reached US$2.65 billion in 2018.
  • Manufacturers are creating unique formulations for UV filters that cater to the demand for effective and convenient all-round sun care solutions.

Industry Leaders Share Insights on Sun Care

  • Several exhibitors to showcase their sun care specific ingredients like DSM and Easthill Corporation.
  • Attendees can join workshop by Lubrizol on ‘Formulation Lab’ and learn how to formulate a high SPF all-mineral sunscreen using its Matrifuse™ S-1 dispersant.
  • Woonam Kim, General Manager at BST Inc., will conduct a seminar to introduce and address the challenges faced by formulators as they seek a natural sunblock and anti-irritant ingredient that can be applied to clean cosmetics.

Transforming Formulations, Less Discovered Trend

The third Spotlight ON area will highlight transforming formulations, a less discovered trend. Interesting formulations brings exciting and surprising change of texture, adds both fun and functional elements to products, and help to drive consumer engagement by providing additional sensory experiences.

  • According to GlobalData’s research, 62% of APAC consumers were willing to pay more for premium and innovative skincare and make-up products.
  • Young, tech-savvy Asian consumers are willing to experiment with their looks and new products, prompting manufacturers to test innovative formulations.
  • Evonik is developing innovative and transforming formulations to present at in-cosmetics Asia.
  • International suppliers Givaudan, Aigion and Azelis, will present their ingredients within the Spotlight On Transforming Formulations area.

in-cosmetics Asia will be held from 5-7 November 2019 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Asia's premier exhibition and convention Center.
