Natural Essential Oils

The agreement is initially for the supply of Black Pepper oil from Sri Lanka but may well extend to other natural products in future.

Pepper is popularly known as the “King of Spices"as it is the most widely traded spice on the international market. The product supplied by Plant Lipids originates from the Matale, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurungala and Nuwara Eliya regions of Sri Lanka.

Best Quality Oil for Perfumers

Sri Lankan Pepper oil is widely regarded as the best quality for perfumers to work with because of its high Piperine content and distinctive odor. The total crop size of Pepper oil in this region amounts to around 25,000 MT of which 5000 MT is from Light Berries.

Sourcing this vital perfumery ingredient from Plant Lipids in Sri Lanka ensures sustainable farming practices like contract farming, buy back guarantees, a fair price for the product and local farmer support. In addition CPL Aromas is pleased that the farming practices employed will minimize the environmental impact on the region as measures are being taken to ensure water conservation and protection. The use of living trees to support the Pepper Vines eliminates the need to use wooden or concrete posts.

Sustainable Essential Oils

CPL Aromas Purchasing Director, Mr Nick Moore, commented on the agreement:

“CPL Aromas is committed in its efforts to purchase more of its products from sustainable sources and to work with companies that seek to minimize the impact on the environment. We are therefore delighted that this agreement with Plant Lipids will see local farmers in Sri Lanka guaranteed a fair price for their products whilst delivering an environmentally responsible and sustainable product that will be used in our fragrance creations around the world."
